As days turned into months and months into years, this chronic emotional distress began manifesting physically. Severe anxiety took hold of me, leading to heart-wrenching panic attacks. My heart raced, my breath escaped me, and the world seemed to be collapsing around me. One of these episodes was so intense that it landed me in the hospital for a night, with doctors administering Xanax and suggesting psychiatric treatment.

Holding onto thoughts of my 4-year-old daughter, I hesitated to take the path of psychiatric treatment. I decided to explore alternative ways to reclaim my mental health. While my ex-husband was outwardly supportive during this period, he remained unaware or unwilling to see that his actions and behavior were pivotal to the mental anguish I was experiencing.

In the aftermath of the hospital episode, eating became a challenge. Sleep eluded me, and the solitude of our home seemed too overwhelming. My existing claustrophobia intensified, where mundane tasks like heading to the cellar, garage, or even using the elevator became monumental challenges.

Desperate for a way out, I began researching. I dove deep into understanding panic attacks and read countless testimonials from individuals who had battled and overcome them. My healing journey began with baby steps: daily meditation sessions lasting 3-5 minutes, cold showers as prescribed by the Wim Hof Method, and Qi Gong, which seemed to soothe my frayed nervous system. Additionally, I reintroduced CBD oil into my daily regimen, a remedy I'd intermittently used over the years. The benefits were palpable.

Eight months into this self-healing process, I mustered the strength to change the narrative of my life. I sought a divorce, took control of my destiny, and slowly rebuilt my world. Today, three years on, life has blossomed in ways I hadn't imagined. I'm expecting twins and live a dream life with my loving spouse and my vibrant 7-year-old daughter.

Yes, I have my off days, but I've equipped myself with tools and knowledge to navigate those choppy waters. I share this story not as a victim but as a testament to human resilience and the belief that even in our darkest hours, the dawn isn't too far away.

To anyone reading this, always remember: You have the strength within you to overcome, to rebuild, and to flourish. Trust in your journey.

Warmly,

Chrysa
